Trauma-Focused Therapy Intensives
Weekly Therapy Helps You Cope.
This Is Space to Go Deeper.
Virtual intensives across CA, ID, UT, and WA
How do I know if intensives are for me?
Therapy Intensives are a beneficial and creative alternate to weekly therapy sessions. They are short term —lasting over the course of a few hours, half a day, or a full day— and allow for deeper, more focused work in a quicker timeframe.
What are the benefits of intensives?
Trauma-focused therapy intensives are a more focused approach to healing. Unlike traditional talk therapy that can jump from the ‘topic of the week’, intensives stay centered around the target issue to resolve unhealed issues and generate lasting change in a shorter time period.
What type of Intensives are offered?
Trauma Intensives
-
Trauma intensives are designed for both complex, chronic trauma and single-event trauma.
Complex trauma intensives focus on negative belief systems originated in childhood and perpetuated throughout constant, traumatic events such as emotional neglect, not feeling a sense of belonging, or not feeling heard or seen.
Single-event trauma intensives focus on activating events and memories that are stored in the body.
-
Trauma intensives are for individuals who have experienced complex, ongoing trauma, single-event trauma, or medical trauma.
This is for you if you:
-Have difficulties regulating emotions
-Isolate during stressful times
-Have difficulty trusting others
-See that your behaviors are negatively impacting work, family, and relationships but you just can’t seem to change the pattern
-Experienced a traumatic event that still causes stress, avoidance, flashbacks, or nightmares
-Have panic attacks
-
Trauma intensives are structured depending on the presenting issue and desired goals.
All intensives start with a free consultation to learn more about what you’re looking for. Then there is a 1-hour intake to learn more about what’s been going on, what the barriers to help has been in the past, and what your goals are for the session.
Complex trauma intensives explore blocks to healing and target negative belief systems that drive negative thought and behavioral patterns.
Single-event trauma intensives utilize EMDR and somatic approaches to help recreate a felt sense of safety within the body.
Stabilization Intensives
-
Stabilization intensives are structured to help individuals who need support with ongoing emotional regulation when their current coping strategies aren’t working.
This is not crisis work or a replacement for intensive outpatient services.
This intensive helps individuals regulate their emotions and nervous system, understand why they do the things they do, and develop coping strategies that actually work for them.
-
Stabilization intensives are for individuals needing more in-depth regulation and coping techniques that work with the root cause.
This intensive is for you if you:
-Have constant conflict within your relationships
-Other parts of your life (such as family, work, and relationships) are starting to suffer
-Are aware of the consequences of behaviors, but just can’t seem to stop
-Constantly talking about it just isn’t working
-Consequences keep happening and you need help before things get worse
-
Stabilization intensives are structured based on the presenting issue and the desired goal.
All intensives start with a free consultation to learn more about what you’re looking for. Then there is a 1-hour intake to learn more about what’s been going on, what the barriers to help has been in the past, and what your goals are for the session.
In these intensives, we focus on the root cause of what’s driving these thoughts, emotions, and behaviors and look at the blocks to healing. We then utilize coping skills geared to address these specific causes and blocks.
This intensive focuses heavily on coping skills, mindfulness, emotion regulation, and supports.
Chronic Illness Intensives
-
Chronic illness intensives focus on the emotional weight and nervous system activation that come when the body is holding onto prolonged illness, stress, and inflammation.
These intensives focus on calming an overactive nervous system, as well as addressing grief, identity changes, and negative thought and behavioral patterns brought on by physical symptoms and limitations out of your control.
This is not a replacement for medication or doctor’s advice. This helps you to better manage the grief of a changing body and acceptance of a frustrating reality.
-
Chronic illness intensives are for individuals experiencing impacts to their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors due to an ongoing illness.
This is for you if you’ve ever experienced:
-grief associated with the loss of a pre-diagnosis identity
-feeling like a burden to family and loved ones
-fears of the future due to physical symptoms
-isolation from previously enjoyed people, places, or hobbies
-fears of symptoms getting worse
-frustration at the reality of your illness
-
Chronic illness intensives are designed with accessibility and accommodations in mind. Take part in these intensives from the comfort of your own space with your wellness kits and comfort needs nearby.
All intensives start with a free consultation to learn more about what you’re looking for. Then there is a 1-hour intake to learn more about what’s been going on, what the barriers to help has been in the past, and what your goals are for the session.
Alongside a focus on nervous system regulation and support, these intensives help to process grief and difficulty accepting a diagnosis and subsequent symptoms.
Chronic Pain Intensives
Therapy That Accommodates Your Body
Traditional therapy isn’t designed for everyone.
When you’re living with chronic pain, chronic illness, fatigue, or a nervous system that is already overwhelmed, getting to an office, sitting upright for an hour, and packing everything you need for the day can make therapy harder than it needs to be.
Trauma therapy intensives offer a different approach.
My virtual intensives are designed with accessibility and chronic illness in mind. You can do deep therapeutic work from the environment where your body feels most supported.
Stay in bed. Change positions. Take breaks. Keep your heating pad nearby. Have your water, medications, supplements, snacks, comfort items, or other supports within reach. You don't have to spend precious energy traveling to an office or recovering from the logistics of getting there.
And unlike traditional weekly therapy, an intensive gives us dedicated time to go deeper into the work—without requiring you to repeatedly prepare your body and schedule for another appointment.
I often work with clients who have tried many traditional approaches, including EMDR. Clients come to me when EMDR isn't working—or they're ready for a different way of approaching their trauma.
Your body isn't an obstacle to therapy. Therapy should be adaptable enough to meet your body where it is.
Do you find your sessions feel too short and feel that you don’t really get past the surface of issues or struggles?
Do you jump around from topic to topic each session, never truly resolving deeper issues?
Are you slow to open up, finally get to the heart of the issue, only to be cut short at the 50 minute mark and have to start all over next week?
Do you have time constraints, responsibilities, or changing schedules that make it difficult to commit to weekly sessions?
Trauma-focused therapy intensives offer:
A more tailored approach to addressing trauma and unhealed issues
Flexibility in your schedule for one day of therapy, versus committing to ongoing weekly sessions
Accelerated healing due to the ability to drop into deeper processing and address concerns in one fluid session
More cost-effective based on what’s achieved in one intensive session versus weeks (or even months or years!) of traditional talk therapy
What trauma-informed modalities are incorporated into the session?
For trauma-informed intensives, I use The Comprehensive Resource Model (CRM). This approach is highly effective at decreasing the intensity of negative belief systems, changing negative thought and behavioral patterns, and increasing a sense of well being and attachment.
CRM uses a blend of:
EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing: Using eye movements to help the brain reprocess negative and traumatic events
SE - Somatic Experiencing: Body focused experiencing that helps the body reprocess negative and traumatic events
IFS - Internal Family Systems: Connecting with the parts of ourselves holding onto distressing and traumatic emotions and memories, and helping them to heal and release these emotions
What can I expect from a trauma-focused therapy intensive session?
The structure is similar to traditional therapy, simply condensed into one session. Each session is customized to match your personal needs and goals.
Intake Session:
We’ll explore your goals, history, and what’s coming up for you, so we can tailor your intensive to best support you.Intensive Session:
A focused deep-dive using trauma-informed approaches like somatic experiencing, bilateral stimulation, and parts work. This is where we do the core of the healing work.Processing & Debrief:
Time to integrate, reflect, and ground. We’ll slow down together and support your nervous system before wrapping up.
