Healing Trauma with Parts Work and Somatic Therapy

In working with trauma, or goal is to manage overwhelming emotions, identify and recognize triggers, and improve self esteem in order to regain control over your life

What usually comes to mind when we think of trauma are the Big “T” traumas: assaults, car accidents, and overt physical danger. There are also Little “t” traumas which are chronic and ongoing moments where we’ve felt unsafe, unprotected, or in a constant state of survival (fight, flight, freeze, fawn).

All of these moments can be from both real and perceived events. Meaning, if on the surface it looks as though we weren’t in real danger, but our brain and body perceives it as real, it has the same traumatic effect.

Both of these types of traumas can prevent us from feeling safe in the world. Everything feels like an attack, we act without thinking, we go from 0-100 in an instant.

Trauma Therapy in California and Idaho

I provide trauma-informed therapy to individuals in California and Idaho through secure virtual sessions. My clients often describe themselves as “high functioning” but chronically overwhelmed. Many have spent years in talk therapy and are ready for something that helps them feel differently, not just think differently.

My role isn’t to fix you—it's to walk with you as you learn to listen inward with more compassion, understand your inner parts, and tend to the survival patterns that were once necessary but may no longer serve you.

A Somatic and Parts Work Approach to Trauma

When trauma lives in the body, talk therapy alone often isn’t enough. That’s why I integrate somatic therapy and parts work—approaches that honor the nervous system and the many inner parts of you that have adapted to survive.

Together, we slow down and gently build awareness of what’s happening in your body. We might explore where certain sensations or emotional responses show up, and which protective parts of you tend to take over when things feel unsafe. This isn’t about forcing change—it’s about helping your system feel safe enough to soften.

Whether you’re navigating complex trauma, childhood trauma, or the cumulative effects of relational wounds, our work can support you in reconnecting with a sense of agency, presence, and groundedness in your life.
